What is a Donkey Car?
A Donkey Car is an opensource DIY self driving platform for small scale cars using an RC CAR + Raspberry Pi + Python (tornado, keras, tensorflow, opencv, etc).
What can you do with them?
- Build your own toy car that can drive itself.
- Drive your car with your phone or laptop.
- Record images, steering angles & throttles.
- Train neural net pilots to drive your car on different tracks.
- Race them at SAINTCON 2018

Why do I care?
This year, Donkey Car racing is coming to the SAINTCON After Hours event which will be hosted Wednesday night. YOU DO NOT NEED A CAR TO PARTICIPATE. SAINTCON will be providing 5 cars for people to experiment and play with. There will be a race later on in the night with the winnder taking home their own Donkey Car!
I want one, how do I get setup?
In order to participate all you need to do is load a good config onto the car and get going. How do you do that? Visit the docs page to get things setup and tuned ahead of time (we suggest taking a few days before the con to install software and take a few laps in the simulator).

Keep in mind there are a few hiccups in the docs so ask around if you have problems. If you need assistance, reach out in SAINTCOMMS Slack or hop in the DonkeyCar community Slack (DonkeyCar Community)
Install Note:
- Make sure to checkout the master after cloning. The default clone does not pull master.
