Challenges 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9 must be completed at the Healthcare Hacking Community on the event floor.

Challenge 8 note: Staff WiFi

Box #8 WiFi: Just Wants to Have Fun 500 pts

Before you start: what you need

  • A WiFi adapter that can do monitor mode.
  • A GPU or a laptop CPU. A GPU makes the crack instant; a laptop CPU is fine.
GPUunder a minute
Laptop CPUabout 20 minutes

That is not a bug and you are not doing it wrong. A CPU is enough. Do not skip this.

No wireless card? Ask a Healthcare Hacking staffer. There is a file that gets you past the radio entirely. It does not make anything else faster.

One thing that will waste your time

Widen your terminal past about 140 columns. The probe-request view truncates its list and will cut a name off mid-word without telling you. Or capture to CSV and read the file instead.

One answer is not on any screen

Somewhere in here, something asks you to do something out loud. Do it. A human hands you that one.

House rules

  • The hardware in the box is scenery, not a puzzle. Please do not unplug anything.
  • Deauthentication attacks are against the rules in this contest, and nothing in this box requires one.

If you think you need to knock somebody off a network, you have taken a wrong turn.
