Undetected entry and exit is a critical security technique to understand.

If a container or object is “Tamper Evident” it is designed to make it obvious if someone has opened or modified it. Tamper evident seals, and devices we rely on are like any other security control, they have vulnerabilities.

The Tamper Evident community is all about bypassing these security devices without leaving any physical proof behind. This involves using heat, chemicals, brute force, and a keen eye for imperfections.

We will have tamper evident devices laid out on the table for you to experiment with and attempt to bypass. This will include seals, stickers, bags, clips, ties, packaging, etc. Additionally, commonly used tools like syringes, hair dryers, heat gun, pliers, cotton swabs, glue, bag sealers, chemicals, etc will be available to use at the tables.

Beginners and pros are all welcome! We will have something for everyone.

In addition, we will have the F.I.B Tamper Challenge running. Visit the contest page for more information.

Tamper Evident FAQ

What is tamper evident? – Tamper evident refers to a device or process that makes unauthorized access to the protected object easily detected. Tamper evident does not mean that it can’t be broken into, just that any attempt will result in obvious physical proof.

What can you do? – At the tables, we will have tamper evident devices laid out for you to experiment with alongside some commonly used tools. You can also sign up for the F.I.B Tamper Challenge which will contain several different layers of tamper evident devices.

Will there be a challenge this year? – Yes! We will be offering a beginner and advanced challenge this year. Refer to the F.I.B Tamper Challenge for more information on rules and this year’s hint.
